Producer's
Note I have really enjoyed my stint as producer and would like to thank all the society members for their support. Although The Sorcerer is not one of the well known G & S operas it is great un and has a special place in the society’s heart. Astounding as it sounds I was not in the first production done fifty years ago but I have tried my best to keep this rendition as authentic and true to the original as possible. We have all enjoyed putting this production together and I do hope that this joy and sense of fun will help you to enjoy your evening. My special thanks go to Rachael and all the principals for their patience and hard work; by the time you are all reading this, my job will be done so I can sit back and enjoy the ride with the rest of you. Musical
Director's Note Rachael is a graduate of the University of Birmingham where she studied music, specialising in piano and singing. There, she was in demand as an accompanist and was also repetiteur for Mid Wales Opera. Since moving to Essex she has played in the band for many of the local societies and for many years has been the accompanist and Chorus Mistress for Benfleet Operatic Society. Recently she has been Musical Director for LODS and for RAW Theatre with whom she has devised and created shows celebrating the music of Richard Rodgers and Ivor Novello. She was also the Musical Director for RAW Theatre’s acclaimed productions of ‘Putting on the Blitz’, and Sondheim’s ‘Company’. Rachael Plunkett |

Conductor's Note This is Stuart's first show with Benfleet Operatic and he has enjoyed working with Rachael and the company very much. Stuart is currently the Musical Director for Leigh Operatic and Dramatic Society's next show, 'Fiddler on the Roof', in November, at the New Empire Theatre, Southend-on-Sea. Stuart also treads the boards and has played numerous leading roles for Leigh Operatic, Chelmsford Operatic, Brentwood Operatic, Southend Operatic, RUG Opera and RAW Theatre. Stuart Woolner |
