Peter Robinson - Sid There Once Was A Man, who Seven And a Half years ago (tenuous, but stick with it) joined BOS. He made a couple of brief appearances in Fiddler on the Roof and Guys and Dolls before being sent to Coventry for three years. Upon his return from Uni he was approached by the producer of the time who said " Hey There! we need a ‘ Purser’ for Anything Goes - interested?" He was and so this role was followed by ‘ Samuel ’ in Piratesof Penzance and more recently ‘ Noah Claypole ’ in Oliver. Peter has also performed with a couple of other local companies over the last year appearing in Putting on the Blitz (RAW Productions) and in SOACS’ production of Pirates. Rehearsals are currently underway for Two Faced Productions Copacabana in February (at the Towngate Theatre in Basildon - get your tickets early folks!). But enough Small Talk - - Peter is glad to Think of the Time He Saves now that he’s not Racing with the Clock to make it to rehearsals and he is certainly hoping to Sleep Tite after the curtain falls. Until then he hopes you all enjoy watching as much as he has enjoyed performing The Pajama Game . |

Anita Gray - Babe Anita decided to join BOS in 2000 as her dad suggested she might enjoy it - he had been member since 1969! Her first show was Scrooge, and she also appeared in Anything Goes, Pirates of Penzance, and last year had the part of the strawberry seller in Oliver. She has also been involved with several concerts and shows at her college, where she is currently studying for four A levels. As this is her first major role in a show she has been working extra hard to learn her lines and perfect her American accent. (Watching her favourite musical Chicago has helped with that!) This will be one of Anita’s last shows with BOS, for the moment, as she is planning to go off to University to study psychology next year. |

Sue Kelly - Gladys Having been an active member of BOS for a long time, Sue considers Her is fortunate in that she has been given the opportunity to play a number of varied roles including Golde in Fiddler on the Roof, Nettie Fowler in Carousel, The Fairy Queen in Iolanthe , Widow Corney in Oliver! as well as the saucy Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes. Her is looking forward to playing Gladys as she gets steamy with the boys in Steam heat, flattered by Prez in Her is, finds a dark secluded place with Sid and causes Hinezie to Never be jealous again. What a Gal! |
Barry Newman - Hines Thirty years ago St. Mary’s Players needed a man to shake his head sadly and walk off stage without a word. Barry was conned into that and has been happily conned by Operatic & Dramatic Societies ever since into playing a wide range of idiots. Type casting tonight reaches its peak as he plays a time obsessed, drink sodden, down trodden idiot with a knife-throwing obsession. Barry has asked if he could please next play a romantic hero with a tenor voice, lots of hair and muscles? |

Rob Gray - Prez Rob first joined BOS in 1969 and has performed in over 50 shows in local groups as well as singing in concerts, opera and oratorios. His favourite role is the Pirate King in Gilbert and Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance and most rewarding was singing the baritone in Olivet To Calvary last Easter. Rob has appeared in all 13 G&S operettas and played many of the characters. His first major show was HMS Pinafore with the Sweyne School Choir and he is looking forward to the BOS production next April. |

Cyndy Jones - Mabel I am very happy to be playing Mabel in our show as I think she is "quite a character." I hope all the cast have a fun week and that the audience enjoys the show. |
Emma Mitchell- Mae Emma’s first performance for BOS was at the age of six and after a bit of a break she returned at 19. She has played lots of little parts since but mostly enjoyed producing Anything Goes in 2002. |
|
Jennifer Roberts - Poopsie Jenny’s first production with Benfleet Operatic Society was in 1995 in the show Carousel. Ever since then she has performed with the society for 9 years. She thoroughly enjoyed participating in The Pajama Game despite the dislike for the character’s name! Sadly, this year will be her last show as she will be leaving to attend Southampton Institute to study Writing Fashion & Culture. |
Dave Sutton - Mr. Hasler My last principal part was Mayor Shinn in The Music Man (in 1996) and my more usual involvement in BOS Productions is singing in the chorus and playing the part of either waiter or barman! Playing the irascible Myron Hasler is a real challenge for me and I hope that I am able to do him justice. |

Dave has been with BOS longer than he cares to remember and has been grateful for the opportunity to play a variety of principal roles over that time. He remembers his very first role - Cox in Burnand and Sullivan’s operetta Cox and Box. Amongst favourite roles played are Jack Point in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Yeoman of the Guard, Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls, Mr. Snow in Carousel and Scrooge in Scrooge the Musical. He is currently chairman of the society and is hoping for an influx of younger and older members for next year leading up to 2006 which will be the society’s 50th Anniversary. |
Jill Martin - Brenda Jill Martin has been with Benfleet Operatic Society for 10 years taking part in shows and concerts as well as being a committee member and Chairperson of the Society for a number of years. Her many roles have included Carrie in Carousel, Iolanthe in the title role, Ruth in Pirates of Penzance, Frumah Sarah in Fiddler on the Roof and Mrs. Sowerberry (the undertaker’s wife) in last year’s production of Oliver. Her favourite character however was as Miss Adelaide in Guys and Dolls. |
|
Rob Mitchell - Max Rob is well known to our audiences as he has played a number of parts over the years since he was a young boy. He hopes his fellow-cast members have an enjoyable week and that the show goes well. |
Dave Donoghue - Charlie Dave Donoghue first performed in HMS Pinafore and Ruddigore whilst still at school. He then took a 31 year break before returning in Iolanthe with the Society. He has been in each show since, and wishes he had taken a shorter break. |
