Producer's
Note After
deciding that I would volunteer my services and have a go at producing for the
first time I was given two versions of “Anything Goes” to decide between,
the original 1934 version and the slightly re written Beaumont version of 1961. There are few differences however I finally decided on the
more recent account. This
wonderfully funny story set on a ship sailing from New York to London in the
early 1930`s has an almost farcical script accompanied by wonderful songs by
Cole Porter that (believe me) you`ll all be humming. It
has been great fun putting this show together and certainly very challenging, as
my first experience I have needed a lot of help and support from all
the company especially my mother Jackie Newman who has assisted in most of the
choreography (two heads are always better than one). I
hope you enjoy it as much as we have and are.
